ODD SOCK DAY

On Monday 16th November at the start of Anti Bullying week, our children all wore ‘odd socks’ to school

What is Odd Socks day?

‘Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!’ - Anti Bullying Alliance.

As part of Anti Bullying Week, our children had various activities which looked at the subject of bullying and what they need to do if they find themselves being bullied by anyone.

THE CROCUS PROJECT

The Crocus Project is a project that helps children to remember and learn about the Holocaust. The Holocaust Education Trust Ireland (HETI) provides yellow crocus bulbs to plant in autumn, in memory of one and a half million Jewish children who perished in the Holocaust and thousands of other children who were victims of Nazi atrocities. Our P6 and P7 children are taking part in the project. They planted the crocus bulbs in the shape of the Star of David which Jewish people were forced to wear under Nazi rule. When the yellow crocuses bloom in January and February they will remind the children of the Holocaust. International Holocaust Memorial Day is 27th January.
