On Friday 17th June P4/5 went to CAFRE Greenmount campus as part of the ‘Bank of Ireland’s’ Open Farm Weekend. While there they had the opportunity to:

  • Make their own butter

  • Experience what it would be like to milk a cow

  • Visit and identify vegetables growing in the vegetable plot

  • Visit the milking parlour

  • Make their own flower arrangements to give to their dads, grandads, uncles etc in the floristry department

  • See lots of different types of farm machinery

After we left Greenmount we went to Antrim Castle Gardens where we had a picnic and then visited the new garden that was created for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee before walking along the river path to Antrim Loughshore where the children played in the park and fed the ducks.
